‘The Wild, Unpredictable World of Soda Popp’

Erin’s second cousin (though she always grew up calling him ‘uncle’) Soda Popp was profiled in Saturday’s Kansas City Star. Soda, a turkey hunter, lives in a house on stilts with the Osage River in his front yard and the Missouri River in his back. The Topeka Capital-Journal did a feature on him in 2007 where Soda quipped, “I live so far out here it’s hard to get a pizza delivered. And I’ve got dial-up Internet service and it’s so slow when I check the newspaper it’s yesterday’s edition.”

His official street address is 1 God’s Country Road.

When he appears on the cover of Field & Stream, we’ll report back.

  1. This was a perfect way to start my week, a reminder that my crazy does have its roots. Soda. Popp. That’s all there is to know. And a house on stilts between 2 rivers.
