What We Blog About When We Blog About Love

Help Write The Next Voreplay!

May 27, 2009 · 14 Comments

Erin Voreblog surprised Ben Voreblog last night with a $25 iTunes gift card (just because). Both Voreblog members have been in a music rut lately (though Anne Evans helped get us out of the ditch with Delta Spirit). We need you to help speed up the arrival of the next Voreplay post. Suggestions?*

Feel free to add comments on the fitness/lack thereof of Judge Sotomayor for the Supreme Court. We only met her once, as co-volunteers at an animal shelter in the Bronx back in the 60s. She was unbelievably kind to injured kittens.

Also, the sharpest NBA minds around try to figure out what on earth is going on in the Eastern Conference Finals. Join the conversation here.

* = We have already spent $0.99 on Iron & Wine’s cover of “Waitin’ For A Superman,” so you have $24.01 to work with.

OMG IF YOU AREN’T PLAYING THE NEW ST VINCENT AT THE STORE THEN I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU GO PLAY IT RIGHT NOW AND SELL A MILLION COPIES

On a lighter note, Riceboy Sleeps (Sigur Ros side project!) is quite good.

I will burn you a copy of these so you dont have to waste your gift cert. (Most likey Scooter is on iTunes now using it to download some Blue Oyster Cult):

    Sam Phillips – A Boot & A Shoe
    Greek Theatre

We already own three separate copies of Agents of Fortune on vinyl (two still in the shrink wrap). So if Scooter Thomas is downloading BÖC right now, heaven help him if he intends to be fed before 2010.

a mix of new and old…

    Bat For Lashes, Daniel
Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)
    Akron/Family, Everyone Is Guilty
Big Star, Ballad of El Goodo
    X, Los Angeles
    Jarvis Cocker, Further Complications
    Modern Lovers, Roadrunner
    Camera Obscura, French Navy
    Bill Callahan, Too Many Birds

Okay, I give up. You should have the entire albums for each of these songs, but you probably don’t.

Thank for you both the recommendations and the passive-aggressive jab there, Beez.

I will smash a chair over your head while you sleep. Like this.

(If I don’t do this to you first.)

Nice, guys. You’re all a class act. I offer solid music advice from my astute ear and years of wide and varied listening. And you offer to bash me in the head.

You remind me of my mother.

If I can add one more (it is important),
    Galaxie 500, Strange

All these songs are haunting me.

    All our times have come
    Here but now they’re gone
    Seasons don’t fear the Scooter
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby…don’t fear the Scooter
Baby take my paw…don’t fear the Scooter
We’ll be able to fly…don’t fear the Scooter
    Baby I’m your cat…

That’s a great gift. I get them every now and then. It’s like going in to a comic book store with five bucks when you were a kid.

My musical tastes are remarkably less cool than your other friends, so I’ll leave you alone on the gift card.

Sotomayor is the most qualified scotus nominee of my lifetime, but two legitimate points of concern have arisen with her nomination:

    1. Empathy is a very bad trait to posess because actually giving a shit about another living being goes against the constitution and the framer’s intentions.

    2. White dudes are in big, big trouble now.

My current faves are Rock and Roll by Eric Hutchinson and Closer to Love by Mat Kearney. Of course, there’s always Dancing Queen by Abba when you’re feeling a real music rut. :)
